Having spent over 8 and a half years together, Winnie & Richard are a force to be reckoned with!
They met in high school although they didn’t really get together until after graduation. And it wasn’t just the obvious stuff that they fell in love with, it was their common sense of humour and their similar values in life - they are truly hard to come by these days and it’s so lovely to see!
Having spent nearly a decade together already, it’s not surprising they have favourite moments of each of other. For Winnie, it’s the time they went camping with the dogs (Bella & Basil) and she forgot the air mattress - the one thing that would help them have a comfy sleep for the entire time they weren’t at home! Richard has forgiven her, but he also tells us that the ground is really REALLY hard to sleep on, especially when it’s raining and super cold! We guess you could say their love was stronger than the comfort of a mattress! ;) For Richard, as much as he likes to trot out the same story, Winnie got to it first, so instead, he no longer has a favourite moment. Just that each an every day with Winnie is a blessing that he can’t believe he has the privilege of having all to himself!
Although, Richard does remember a ridiculous situation he was put in while Winnie was fast asleep! Imagine getting bitch-slapped in the face by the woman you love, which is a rude awakening any way you look at it. Then, imagine turning over to find that the woman you love is still completely fast asleep! Turns out she was having horrible dream where someone was choking her, and she lashed out to her attacker as a dream reflex. Shame she woke Richard up in the process. They still laugh about this to this day!
They have had a few trips together that they’ve immensely, such as their trip to Singapore & Malaysia in 2018 and their trip to Mexico in 2019, but no experience is more worthy of their best experience together than the moment Richard proposed to Winnie! It was April 2016 and Richard took Winnie, Basil & Bella up to Mt Ainslie at night. While overlooking the beauty of the lights Canberra has to offer, her got down on one knee and the rest, as they say, is history.
On their wedding day, we started with them early in the morning to grab them getting ready before they had a very traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. We then followed them to Lake Ginninderra and then to Poachers Pantry where the rest of their celebrations took place. Here are just a few of the images we captured on their special day…
