Stephanie & Simon Beard
MARRIED 30 APRIL 2022
Having met back in 2019 at a Christmas party, when Simon managed to spill his drink not once, but twice on Steph, this is a relationship that has no issue with a little bit of mess! (Even if Simon claims to have spilt the drinks on purpose in order to be noticed.)
Of course, a few months later, covid hit and they were practically stuck with each other, and couldn’t really go anywhere! Instead, they bonded very quickly over progressive values, but also the smallest, yet cutest things. And in their case, the clincher was balsamic vinegar - they have a mutual disdain foe the dressing. In fact, when Steph first brought up the fact that she hated it, Simon blurted out “I love you” by accident. But to be fair, it was really that their love grew as they spent time together and they learned that there was a trust and natural communication leading to a psychological safety that neither of them had really had before. Oh, and when they learnt we both loved Tim Minchin!
They have had some hilarious moments together, but the funniest has to be the time that Steph dropped an entire cake, weighing at least 1 kg or more, that they were taking to a family dinner and it rolled down the driveway and in to the dirt.
Their favourite things about each other are the cutest as well. Steph has a specific face she pulls after making a pun that always makes Simon laugh, but only on the inside because he can't give her that satisfaction. And Simon gets very affectionate after a few drinks. Steph quite enjoys the car ride home when he has to keep reminding her how much he loves her.
Simon’s proposal was the sweetest. In early May 2021, he recreated their first date and proposed on the footbridge on the southern end of the Kingston foreshore. There was no way Steph was going to say no!
On their wedding day, we spent time with them before they got married, first while they were getting ready, and then a cute little first look in the vineyards before some fun photos with the whole bridal party across the beautiful landscape provided by the Tallagandra Hill Winery. After which, it was time for them to get married as the sun set over the hill. It was probably the most perfect afternoon for them. Their dinner reception was amazing as it allowed for a few more awesome photos, including the latest version of our astrophotography at weddings. And thank goodness we had the perfect night for it as well! Here are just a few of the many many images we captured on their wedding day…
