Sophie & Matthew Bell
MARRIED 17 NOVEMBER 2017
Sometimes in life, you just happen upon a person who is so perfect for you, you know it from the moment your eyes meet. It's a feeling that can't be described, but can only be felt. It is the one that Matthew had when he first met Sophie.
They met during a chance meeting at the Sydney Supanova, and really hit it off. The next day, when despite Matthew having lost his voice, he still managed to pluck up the courage to provide Sophie with his phone, open to Facebook so that they could connect with each other. Matt admits that he felt pretty silly not being able to speak, and still trying to be charming. But it worked, anyway!
Two years have passed, and they feel like it's been many more than that. And in that time, Matthew and Sophie fell completely and totally in love with each other. Sophie is strong headed and has strong beliefs. She continues to push Matthew's thinking in lots of different ways. She has a drive to her that Matthew believes she herself barely knows exists. Matthew is just as crazy as Sophie is and they tease each other about it non-stop. He has a different way of thinking, and is selfless, loving and caring for everyone around him.
Sophie sees his love in the simplest things, like when he surprises her with flowers after a long day at work. And as everyone knows, Sophie is utterly afraid of flying. Even so, Matthew loves the look she gets after a long flight, even though he has been comforting her the entire flight.
They've shared some amazing memories together, and both love retelling the tale of when Sophie had to have her wisdom teeth removed as soon as they got off the plane in Brisbane en route to the Gold Coast. Sophie was quite simply stunned that anyone could be better than her dentist back home. They also love reliving Sophie's first visit to Perth where, again the simple things amazed her, like what you can order from a local franchise called 'Dome', or how the red sea meets the Indian Ocean.
It was on August 20, 2016 when Matthew proposed. He had been preparing for over four months prior, having the ring custom made to suit Sophie's true soul, and even took it with him to Perth to have it approved by his sister. It was a beautifully crafted afternoon, beginning with High Tea at Gold Creek, and ending with a walk, stopping at a gorgeous cottage across from a sandstone Victorian house. He dropped to one knee, said all the right things, and of course Sophie said yes! It was the first time she'd seen him cry in their whole time being together. The second, of course, was their wedding day.
It was not the day that Sophie wanted, as it was not 35 degrees and sunny. Instead, we had glorious cloud cover, and a little bit of morning rain, which provided rich colours and beautiful light. We spent the whole day at the Lake George Winery, and even though it wasn't the perfect day, Sophie & Matthew loved every minute of it!
