Nicole & James Heggie
MARRIED 28 APRIL 2018
In this modern day, there are many couples who meet through an online dating service, but few are able to share stories quite like that of Nicole & James. Once they got to talking, they realised that they had lived in the same apartment complex prior to meeting. Even their carparks were opposite each other! On their first date, Nicole knew she had seen that blue car before, but couldn't quite place it.
Having already spent a year of their lives living a few floors apart, it has now been over 2 years since they became a couple. They can't believe how quickly everything has changed for them - they've moved in, gone overseas together, and now Nicole's beautifully faithful dog of 14 years considers James as the favourite. All that from a first date over good hot chocolate in the Kingston Foreshore.
There have been many moments where they realise just how lucky they are and how much they love each other. It's the simple gestures like James giving Nicole his jacket when she's cold, or when he holds her tight as she falls asleep. James even tried hairstyling, putting bobby pins in wherever he could, just to keep Nicole's "up-do" together for her brother's wedding. James' most memorable moment was his first Christmas with Nicole's family in Canberra. Being away from home most years isn't easy, but being welcomed into her family was such a special moment and made him feel like one of the family.
Their trip to Europe was what cemented their life together. After being together for a few months, the first significant time they spent apart was when Nicole went to Europe before James, who arrived a week later. He didn’t realise how much Nicole meant to him until they met up in Belgrade and realised how bad the time apart was. Likewise, Nicole left James with his brother in Croatia to visit Italy, Switzerland & Paris. When she landed in Rome, she realised then that she didn’t want to do it alone and how much he made her life brighter.
So when it came to proposing, they already knew they wanted a life together. Even so, James planned a special lunch at the National Arboretum, on a sunny, Winter's day. After lunch, the weather had turned so icy cold and windy, Nicole began to pack everything away, but James forced her to put it all down so that he could get down on one knee and propose. Of course Nicole said yes, and the rest is history.
For their wedding, we travelled to the beautiful Gibraltar Hotel in Bowral, which has stunning surrounds and beautiful vistas. Unfortunately, it rained on their wedding day, but they figured by that point, it was fate. After their ceremony, they were still keen to go outside to take photos, and we took some glorious shots of them in and around the misty golf course. All in all, it was a wonderful day, and one that will be remembered forever. We wish both Nicole and James all the best in their future together!
