Nancy & Kirk Mahina-Newman
MARRIED 25 NOVEMBER 2017
Nancy & Kirk have known each other for nearly half their lives as they first met at a games arcade when they were 14 and 17, respectively. They haven't always been with each other, but what makes this love story so special is that they found each other again, later in life.
They have officially been a couple for six years, but were split for roughly four years in the middle. When they finally reached out again and started dating once more, they both knew for certain that they were soul mates.
Kirk proposed in Ballarat, on Jan 9, 2016. They were there on a gold mining holiday, and were out in the fields panning for gold. Kirk placed the ring in the gold pan, and called to Nancy to show her the gold he'd found. She saw the ring, gasped and said yes!
Nancy & Kirk are in love with life. They joke and laugh all the time, whether it's a special occasion, or just sitting together on the couch. They love spending time together wherever they are, but especially love their cruise to New Caledonia.
Their wedding day was nothing short of spectacular, with gorgeous sunny skies, amazing colours, and a fun time to be had, all round. We whisked them off to James Turrell's Skyspace and the National Gallery for photos after they were married at St. Christopher's Cathedral in Manuka, before celebrating the night away at the Canberra Rex Hotel, with many a moving speech, and a number of very special and culturally significant Tongan dances.
