Melanie & John Tokaji

MARRIED 27 JULY 2019

They talk about that “summer” love in movies all the time. Where you go on a vacation to a beautiful location you may not have been to before, and when you’re there you meet this amazing girl and fall in love with her. For some people, this is a fantasy that may never happen, or if it does, the love can’t last long. However for Mel & John, the fantasy happened, and now they are married!

It was on a holiday to New Zealand where they met, through a mutual friend. The chemistry they had when they first met was undeniable! And so, back and forth they went across the ditch until one day, on the lawns of Regatta Point here in our nation’s capital, John proposed! It was simple, elegant, and exactly what Mel was hoping for. After being together for 2 years, they knew they had something special!

When we asked them why they fell in love with each other, Mel told us that she feels John is her best friend and that they have shared faith and values. John just simply said “She can cook and bake”. And we all know that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach! But in all seriousness, they literally realised that they don’t know what they do if they weren’t in each other’s lives, supporting each other in love and faith.

On their day, we joined them for their preparation at their respective homes before following them to the C3 Church in Watson for a very moving ceremony. We then spent time around the National Library, National Gallery and Lake Burley Griffin before it was time to party at the Rydges, Capital Hill. Here are just a few of the shots we got from their day.
