We’ve heard it time and time again, “opposites attract”. But in our experience, we’ve always tended to be the photographers for couples that have at least a couple of things in common! However, this is the first wedding where we’ve had a quite a few firsts: we flew to Fiji for the first time (and hopefully not the last) to shoot the wedding; we witnessed fire-twirling at a wedding; we were told that both Kate & Geoff have nothing in common, so much so that they really don’t quite know how they fell in love! In fact, the only thing we can be certain of is that they both know that they can’t live without each other!!
So apart from the amazing images that you’ll see from a gorgeous overseas location, let’s first talk about how Kate and Geoff met: Tinder! Now, for us, we’ve had a few couple meeting on dating platforms, but this would be our second “swipe-right” couple who made it passed the first date! And they’ve since ben together for 3 years, which is well longer than the length of time most Tinder dates last (or so we’re told!). And in those 3 years, there isn’t a more poignant and heart-breakingly beautiful moment than when Kate’s beautiful daughter Immy asked Kate if she could call Geoff “daddy”. Now, for anyone who knows someone who has had a young child grow up without a biological father, that moment when they ask that question, you just know something amazing is happening. And needs to continue to happen!
Kate has no idea how the mystery of Geoff and his cycling came into her life properly, but she knows that she loves him so much that she will continue to support his crazy cycling passion, just like how she knows that he will always support her and Immy. Even if it means having to listen to her about her work, and deal with the rest of amazingly awesome Carnall family.
They’ve spent a lot of time having great memories, but none sparks laughter more than the time that Geoff ran after a little fluffy white dog. Everyone at the time knew he was destined to have trouble liking the dog, but he ran after it anyway, knowing how much the dog meant to Kate and Immy. He did so even though it was a freezing winter’s night, and without even putting his shoes on! Plus, instead of catching the dog, he ended up in a rose bush, and what a bloody mess that was! Safe to say that everyone is well now, and he does actually like little Pippa!
For their wedding, Kate couldn’t imagine going anywhere else but her happy place: the Outrigger, Fiji. She had been quite a few times in her life, and she always knew that one day she’d be married there. And so, after meeting Geoff and having Immy ask her for him to be her daddy, it was only a matter of time until Geoff proposed. He did so on her birthday, and using a ring that had been forged using his grandmother’s diamond. And from there, it was a pretty easy to convince Geoff that they should definitely get married in Fiji.
And what a wedding! The day could not have been more perfect, the sun, the sand, the wind in hair, and the locations that Kate knew about were just amazing! We hope you enjoy these photos from their spectacular day! We know it won’t be the last time we head over to Fiji! :D
