Imagine this: you are standing on top of one of the tallest buildings in Tokyo, at least 600m above the city sky line, enjoying your amazing Japanese holiday when suddenly, in front of quite a few onlookers, your beautiful partner is on one knee, with a perfectly-sized ring… Those little butterflies are all giddy inside you and you say yes practically without breathing out. Chris will remember the face Jen wore at this very moment for the rest of their lives!
That’s what it was like for Jen on April Fools Day, 2017, when Chris proposed to her - pretty darn magical! He later told Jen that it was more difficult than he had imagined noting Jen didn’t own a single ring, so he had spent a few nights measuring her finger while she slept… He also admitted to remeasuring it more than once - just to be safe!
But their story begins almost 10 years prior inside one of Canberra’s finest Irish pubs - King O’Malley’s in Civic. It was one of those fairytale moments where their eyes met across the room. They hit if off instantly, and the rest, as they say, is history.
A few years down the track, and Chris whipped out his guitar and serenaded Jenna. There was no special occasion, it was just for the moment. And from that moment on, Jen knew she was in love - Chris tells us that he was already there by that point. but it wasn’t just that he could play guitar, they both have so much in common, from their love of video games, to their silly sense of humour to their love for all things “horror” and shared passion for good food.
Chris remembers one of the funniest moments in their life when he learnt a little secret about how Jen would doll herself up before their dates after parking her motorbike and spending time reapplying her face in the mirror. Chris found out, of course, because he finally learnt where she parked her bike and waited for her, only to scare Jen something fierce and of course, learn her little secret!
They have spent much time together abroad, but they both agree that their trip to St John’s, Canada was the best. Not only for the romantic night they shared, which is one of Jen’s fondest memories, but also because ti was their first overseas holiday. It was such a beautiful place, with the snow-covered streets and beautiful landscapes and holds a very special place in their hearts.
They are such beautiful people who make such a beautiful couple together, and it’s clear that their love for each other will stand the test of time.
