Hacer & Ali Akturk

MARRIED 9 JUNE 2019

We’ve said it before, and we’ll definitely say it again and again and again: those stories you heard of how your parents found each other (i.e. before the advent of the internet and the way the modern dating world seems to occur these days) are most certainly alive and well! The way in which Hacer & Ali found each other is nothing short of a princess story, with a modern twist. ;) Hacer & Ali met when they were still in high school, when Hacer was just 14 years old! She admits that she first heard of him when he appeared on one of her friend’s MSN Messenger, and she fell in love with who he was, even though she hadn’t met him in real life. She even admits to having memorised his contact details so she could add him herself.

Once they got to talking on MSN, they realised they had been going to the same school for a few years already and it was just a matter of coincidence that they hadn’t yet met in real life. It didn’t take long to fix that though! A few days later, it was as if he rounded the corner, and everything turned into slow motion as his eyes caught hers across the playground. Literal love at first sight. But, it wasn’t until their eyes met, at such a young age, that she just knew from that moment that they were destined to be together!

It wasn’t until March 2010 that they officially became a couple. Some say that Ali had to wait until he was sure. Others say that Hacer worked her magic pretty quickly. Either way, since then, they have been inseparable - roughly 9 and a half years of time together under their belt before they were married!

Ali is true romantic at heart, and on their 9th anniversary, he organised a beautiful evening picnic for the two of them, including fairy lights, and a perfect view to the Harbour Bridge. He even organised for his friends to film the moment where he got down on one knee and proposed to Hacer. Such a beautiful moment that not many people can say they have captured on film! Of course, we all know what Hacer said in response.

Over the years, Hacer had fallen further in love with Ali for his enthusiasm and positivity. She was a very lonely, shy, quiet girl and completely loved the genuine energy he radiated. Ali tells us that he fell in love with Hacer because “Hacer was very unique and it was evident the she matched with the style I had: retro with a bit of vintage and a bit of girly but also taking what’s basic and dressing it to my vibe…”

With the amount of time they have had together, sharing a singular but amazing moment where they both knew it was true love would almost have been too perfect to be true. But! They have one: on their 7th anniversary, they met each other after school. During the day, without telling each other prior, they had both written ‘7 months’ on their left wrist with a pen! Young love, so sweet!

On their wedding day, we did all the t=things you would traditionally do for a Turkish wedding, including holding the ceremony at the bride’s house, dancing in the streets, and an amazing music-filled entrance into the reception that we will never forget! You can see all the fun we had in the pictures below. Such an amazing experience, for two amazing people! :D
