Emily & Aaron Grima

MARRIED 26 MARCH 2021

Emily & Aaron’s story is a little different to most, as they first met by absolutely pure accident, through a situation that most people would call fate.

Emily was making cakes as a little side business on top of her normal office job and often had to take time off work to do her cakes. On a fateful day, specifically Friday 9th November 2018, Emily had taken the day off work to create a baby shower cake. Her mother had informed her that there were going to be some guys installing new stone bench tops in the Alfresco area. Emily was working away on her cake and from the backyard appeared a very handsome, friendly looking young man. He gave her a great big wave and had the biggest smile on his face. She was instantly attracted to him!! And clearly she HAD to find out more about him. But, being the little introvert she is, she instead continued to sit inside working on my cake. She enlisted the help of her step father to do some investigating for her! (Little did she know that Aaron, the very attractive man outside, was also quite taken aback and was trying to find out more about her! Later that night, a friend request appeared on Facebook. They organised to catch up for dinner that next week and they clicked instantly. From there, they went on several dates and on the 1st of December 2018, Aaron asked if Emily would be his girlfriend. The rest is history!

Emily tells us that she loves Aaron's happy and bubbly personality. He is such a positive, happy guy and always finds the good in everything. He has a heart of gold and would do anything for his friends and loved ones. His smile is so infectious it lights up the room. He is a very generous, honest and trustworthy person and he is a very hard worker and takes pride in what he does. He has a great sense of humour which keeps their relationship fun - they love to joke and stir each other up! But mostly, it his big brown eyes, the way he looks at her and smiles makes her melt - whenever she is around him, he makes her happy (well, most of the time).

Aaron tells us he loves Emily for so many reason! She’s just beautiful. Her smile, her eyes, her generous heart, the way she puts others before herself, her sense of humour and witty personality, and the love she has for their dog Peppi. She instantly makes him happy when I wake up and see her in the mornings. Plus, she is so kind hearted and thoughtful: she wakes up early to make him a coffee and waves him goodbye every single morning. Oh, and she cooks food he JUST LOVES!

You can tell that these two just adore each other, which is everything to us!

Some of their best times together include their little holidays, which there have been many to date including Bowral, Port Douglas, Melbourne and the Gold Coast. They’ve shared some great experiences, like snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, seeing and being stalked by Crocodiles in the wild, playing (or at least attempting to play) golf, and just exploring new places together in general. In fact, they completely believe that Golf is by far the best and worst experience for them. They’re absolutely terrible at it, yet the continue to try: laughing at watching each other trying to tee off (all the air-swings!), taking massive chunks out of the grass and getting bogged with the buggy have been some of their most funniest moments.

But for all the times they’ve spent together, each taking care of each other and looking out for each other, knowing each other inside and out, it was Aaron’s proposal that caught Emily completely by surprise!

Aaron had told Emily a week prior that he was taking her to dinner as he was going away with his friends the following weekend. So, she automatically assumed that he was taking her out just to butter her up so he could get away with having some extra mischief with his mates. The dinner was set to happen on the evening of Wednesday 9th September 2020. Aaron told Emily to get dressed up as he was taking her somewhere a little fancier but wouldn't tell her where they were going. So all dressed up, (Aaron had a fresh haircut and was looking very sharp and Emily wasn't looking too shabby either, as she tells us), they arrived at their destination, Aubergine. This wasn’t suspect as they had talked about going for quite a while.

Throughout the course of the evening, Emily noticed Aaron was acting a little strange - he seemed to be quite nervous and on edge but he reassured her that everything was fine.

They had just about finished our 5 course degustation menu, it was just before dessert was served when Aaron stood up, put his coat on and went to the mens room. Emily thought it was a little odd that he was putting his coat on to go to the bathroom but she didn't read into anything. As he came back from the gents, he stood beside her, got down on one knee and reached into his coat jacket and pulled out a box. He began to tell her how much he loved her and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with her and then asked her to marry him. Emily was in total shock! But also pleasantly surprised and over the moon that the love of her life had just asked her to marry him! Of course she said yes! (After leaving him hanging for a while because she was too busy admiring the ring.)

And that brings us to their wedding day, which was an absolutely gorgeous day, where we covered their day from start to finish, heading out to Poachers Pantry before the ceremony to capture a few fun moments with the two of them and their bridal party before sending them off to their ceremony and party afterwards! Here is just a snippet of the images we captured for them on their wedding day…
