Dominica & Mark Van der Ploeg
MARRIED 7 APRIL 2018
The smallest of things can be enough to draw two people together. Sometimes, it's the look they give you from across the dance floor. Sometimes, it's their true personality that they share you no-one else but you. For Dominica & Mark, it is the fact that they share such a perfect and matched sense of humour, that they both feel that they were meant to find each other.
Dom & Mark have known each other for over 3 and a half years, after meeting across the dance floor at a local latin dance studio. They got to know each other through the social dance nights and grew closer and closer together.
They have shared beautiful moments together, such as the time Mark learnt Dom's favourite dance in secret and then displayed his new footwork to her one evening, the many times Mark took Dom on basic bike routes so that she could learn to ride, or their amazing trip to Italy. But the best moment would have to be when Mark proposed!
He took Dom to the place they visited on their first date - Namadgi Park. He packed a full picnic lunch, and once they got to the lunch spot, he diligently began pulling out all the contents for the picnic, one after the other until he pulled out the very last item hidden inside the hamper, a gorgeous ring! Dom remembers it well - he was so sneaky as he was already down on one knee!
Their wedding day was noting short of perfect for both Dom & Mark. They included the best parts of both their respective cultures, starting the day with door games, during which the boys were given a set of challenges which tested their mettle. They continued with a traditional tea ceremony before heading to the church for a beautiful ceremony. We took them to the Pialligo Redwood Forest and the National Gallery for their photos before they celebrated in style at the National Press Club. As you might expect, the day was filled with fun, laughter and that quirky humour that Dom & Mark are both known so well for. We wish them both the best of futures together!
