We love this story because of how unique it is, and jus goes to show that you can find love in the places you love the most. For Cassie & Cain, it wasn’t a dating site, it wasn’t the local pub, and it certainly wasn’t setup by friends - they found each other while playing an online game they both love very dearly: Overwatch. It was a fun friendship that quickly grew into more. They found themselves finding every excuse and waking moment opportunity to be able to dive into the game just so that they could spend more and more time together.
This friendship become romance all started back in 2016, where they spent hours and hours playing games together, so much so that their favourite trip together isn’t something that exists in the real world (or the “meat space” as they call it - a little in joke they have) - it is a place in the virtual world of ARK on the Island of Ragnarok, flying through a wyvern trench. They rode wyverns over the highlands, exploring the canyons and seeing the massive redwood trees. It was a sight to behold, and a memory they shall not ever forget soon.
One of the funniest moments they have shared is a moment around the birth of their beautiful daughter Evie. Cassie’s waters had broken on the Friday, but nothing happened and they were sent home to be induced the following week. On Tuesday, Cain was finally starting up their twitch stream again - it was the first day back in a couple of years, and they had planned a 24-hour extravaganza. However, within a few hours of starting it, Cassie started to go into labour, and they rushed off to hospital instead. The 24-hour stream extravaganza was cancelled (likely to never happen again with Evie in their lives) and Cassie tells us she has never lived that moment down. Ever!
Cassie watched Cain hold Evie for the first time, and can remember the flutter of feelings she received in the moment. A photo was taken of him holding her, and she cherishes that photo more than she truly realises.
Another memory Cassie will have trouble forgetting is the moment Cain proposed. It was Christmas 2019. She had an inkling Cain was going to propose but certainly wasn’t getting her hopes up. They got down to the very last present on Christmas morning and as she opened it Cain got on one knee and proposed. Cassie sobbed, her mum sobbed and it was perfect.
On their wedding day, we started with both Cassie & Cain in their respective locations - Cassie at home with Evie and her mum, and Cain at the Vibe Hotel. We then followed Cassie in her Kombi Van to Vibe so that they could be married, before we whisked them away to the NGA for photos, then back to the Vibe for their reception.
