Birthday parties are a way to celebrate how many years you’ve existed on this Earth as the Earth itself has revolved around the sun. And it just so happens that it’s also an amazing space to meet your prospective life partner/lover/etc. It’s even better when neither of you are actually having your own personal birthdays celebrated, but when you’re kinda just the third wheel’s at the party, so no-one is paying as much attention to everything going on. ;)
That party was back in July 2016, and as you’ve probably guessed, neither Ashley nor Brendan have looked back!
The love grew because Ash is firstly very persistent, but also such a beautiful woman, and her beauty and tenacity meant she wasn’t going to let Brendan get away. Plus, Brendan is such an amazing person, and Ash made sure he knew it.
One of the best memories they have is the time they went canyoning through the Blue Mountains (they’re favourite destination they’ve ever been to), which pushed them both out of their comfort zones, but ultimately drew them together - many future nature-the explorations they’ve done together have always drawn on the experiences they learned from their first.
One of the first moments they shared where Ash knew she was totally smitten with Brendan was during one of the very first late night calls when Brendan would recite the names he’s picked out for the 6 children he expected to have with her! We can only hope they will be able to have the 6 they’re hoping to have!
And the funniest moment they’ve shared is also the moment Brendan proposed to Ash: he waited until 10:30pm on her birthday, on a cruise ship trip they took. It was windy, and it as super dark, and his delivery wasn’t as slick as perhaps he had hoped. But he stuck the landing and she said yes! Although, she still hasn’t received a normal birthday present from him in addition to the ring, which she still feels was not a birthday present, and more of a life present…. ;)
On their wedding day, we spent most of the time we had with them all around the National Arboretum for pretty much everything, and the rain did NOT stop us from having an awesome time. Here are just a few of the images we captured from their special day…
