Aleira & Ash Crivici
MARRIED 31 OCTOBER 2020
Think back…. To a time where we didn’t rely too much on our phones, and we out to a bar or a pub in the hopes of having a good time. Maybe we meet someone (and maybe it was our friends that forced one or both of the us into meeting that someone…) And maybe that someone ends up turning up to your birthday party after only knowing you for a few weeks, with Ice, Pies and a bottle of Jack Daniels in tow. Yup. That’s love. That’s a keeper right there!
Aleira says that she knew what she wanted the moment she saw Ash, and that she was determined to make that clear to him very early on. And after all her efforts, Ash finally decided to give up his immaculate SS Ute for a 4x4, moved out to the country with her, and never said no to a new horse or puppy. If that ain’t love, we don’t know what is!
It’s been a total of 8 and a bit years now that they’ve been together since that fateful night at PJ O’Reilly’s in Tuggeranong, and Aleira and Ash have never looked back. In fact, they told that if you can move into the sticks and build a house together, and then remain together as a couple after that, then you can literally get through anything in life.
Since meeting, they’ve been to some amazing places, but Sapporo, Japan takes the cake! Not only because of the beautiful scenery, but because Aleira and Ash learned a very valuable lesson, that Aleira should never EVER be given the chance to make decisions about the direction they should be travelling!
Early into their trip, Aleira reckoned she had found a shortcut back to their hotel. Now Ash, loving the idea of efficiency, thought this was excellent. Long story short, at least 2.5 hours later, while wandering the streets of Tokyo, seeing things and places they had yet to see, but being obviously lost, Ash finally got Aleira to give up, and they finally hailed a cab. But the cab driver didn’t want their money. They gathered that must be because they had managed to, by accident get themselves quite close to their hotel. Convinced they couldn’t have been close, they hailed a second cab and forced him to take them to the door of their hotel. The cab driver more or less did a u-turn with them in the car, and parked them on the other side of the street in front of their hotel. Aleira isn’t allowed to read maps anymore. Ash says. ;)
As much as Japan is still an amazing memory, Aleira reckons this one is her best memory: They had gone up to Sydney to watch the Sydney 7s and Ash surprised her by taking her for a walk down to Mrs Macquarie's Chair, on the Friday night, in the rain. While she was looking at the Harbour Bridge (spectacularly lit up) Ash got on one knee and asked "Hey Leir, what are you doing for the rest of your life? Will you marry me?" A complete surprise! Ash had bought her Grandpa's diamond from her mum a few years before proposing and had had it custom made into an engagement ring - also a complete surprise for me. Of course, we all know what Aleira’s answer was!
On their wedding day, with the rain as our friend, we spent time with both of them before they got married, and then headed into the Peninsula Room at the National Museum to stay undercover while it rained for their ceremony. We then took them for a trip to Telstra Tower and the Botanic Gardens for photos before a spectacular reception inside a very unique part of the museum - a space that had not ever been used before for a wedding, and it was stunning! Here’s a little look at hoe their day went…
